it’s almost as if we forget the communal atmosphere a lot of our society is rooted in and are now going after this staunch individualism that does nothing but takes away. loved this piece, truly. x

I've noticed often with the people who rage behind the dupatta or whatever new thing has been claimed by the west from south asia is that often all they have is rage. They are not having the deeper conversations about India such as how we propagate caste or the fascist government in power. Be mad about what the west takes from us. It sucks when they try to whitewash what is ours, but the narrative and cultural analysis cannot stop there. The scars of colonialism doesn't entitle us to propagate these same institutional structures like the caste system again and again
